Day 2 - Monday
Besseggen from Gjendesgeim to Memurubu
We start the day by sending our luggage by boat to Memurubu.
The stunning views of the wild Jotunheimen, and the steep passages gives a great feeling of accomplishment. The tour is not particularly difficult but nevertheless gives an airy feel with the green Gjende 400 meters further down on one side, and the deep blue Bessvatnet Lake on the other. The walk over Besseggen runs between Gjendesheim and Memurubu. Besseggen 16 km is long and the highest point is at 1743 m. About 8 hours.
Day 3 – Tuesday
Memurubu - Glitterheim
Steep up from Memurubu to where the path splits to Besseggen, Bessheim and Gjendesheim. Then steep down into Lower Russglopet. Along the western side of the lake, Russvatnet. Up over the ridge between Austre and Vestre Hestlægerhøe and down to Glitterheim. About 7 hours.
Day 4 – Wednesday
Glitterheim - Spiterstulen
Great hike over Norway's highest point (measured on the glacier) 2472 m. Against Lower Steinbuvatnet and up the ridge to the glacier, further up the west to the summit.
Down on very steep trail into Steindalen to Skautflye and continue steeply into Visdalen to Spiterstulen.
About 9-10 hours.
If the weather is bad, with poor visibility and wind, we’ll choose an alternative route.
Day 5 - Thursday
Spiterstulen - Galghøpiggen (2469 m)
The highest mountain of Norway towers over the surrounding peaks, providing a breath-taking view of Jotunheimen. Spiterstulen - Galdhøpiggen is a steep but relatively easy hike. The walk is however quite long and one should calculate about 9 hours roundtrip. From Spiterstulen we walk westward, up the hillside to Svellnose and Keilhaus top before we reach the summit. Return the same way.
Transfer to Lom – dinner and overnight stay
